Not all Super Heroes wear capes! 73-year-old Million Dollar “Mowerman” Claude Harvey is a Super Hero for Bravehearts’ and child protection.
Today, Claude kicks off his tour of Far North Queensland in Townsville after having pushed his mower across thousands of kilometres throughout QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS and WA to raise vital funds and awareness of Bravehearts and child protection.
Over the next 21 days, Claude will travel more than 800 kilometres via the Atherton Tablelands en route to Cairns, Claude will stop at 15 towns and cities to tell communities about the importance of child protection and encourage their support for Bravehearts and White Balloon Day.
Having already raised a staggering $1Million to help Bravehearts protect Australian kids; Claude has set his sights on reaching a new $2Million target by 2022 and is hoping to raise $20,000 during his 2018 Far North Queensland tour.
“Although fundraising is a big part of my tours, raising awareness of this horrendous crime among as many communities as possible to help prevent child sexual assault, is my primary mission.”
With fans and supporters turning out wherever he mows, Claude will meet with community leaders, visit shopping centres and talk with people in the streets, malls and coffee shops about the importance of child protection, and a Bravehearts’ program Claude is particularly passionate about – the Ditto Keep Safe Adventure Show.
“The Ditto Keep Safe Adventure Show stays in kids hearts and I’m very excited about my upcoming tour and having the opportunity to talk with people about Ditto and how communities can help protect their children including supporting the wonderful work of Bravehearts and White Balloon Day,” he said.
“Although fundraising is a big part of my tours, raising awareness of this horrendous crime among as many communities as possible to help prevent child sexual assault, is my primary mission,” said Claude.
“If I can save just one child from this crime that harms 1 in 5 Australian children, I will have achieved what I’ve set out to do.
Bravehearts CEO Wilma James, said, “Claude has made and continues to make an extraordinary contribution to child protection in Australia, with every dollar raised devoted to Bravehearts’ child protection programs.
“Instead of putting his feet up and enjoying retirement, for more than 10 years Claude has dedicated his twilight years to Bravehearts and child protection and we are forever grateful for his remarkable contribution,” Ms James said.
After reading about the arrest of a paedophile for sexually assaulting a child, in 2008, Claude Harvey became an active volunteer for Bravehearts, Australia’s only children’s charity dedicated to preventing child sexual assault.
“We hope everyone will welcome Claude – Our true blue Super Hero and a national living treasure as he continues to give his all to support Bravehearts’ in our Mission to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child,” said Ms James.
