As a mother of two boys, keeping kids safe is important to Jo Palazzetti, Director of Turbo Studio, Sydney’s premier indoor training facility for cyclists and triathletes.
Now in their eighth year, Turbo Studio has grown to include one-on-one coaching, outdoor squads, events, training camps and their dedicated ‘Bravehearts Turbo Studio Masters Race Team’, whose presence on the racing circuit has been proudly raising awareness of Bravehearts and the crime of child sexual assault since 2014.
“I understand how difficult it is to talk about child sexual assault,” says Jo.
“If my business can lend a voice and encourage people to break the silence that so often surrounds this crime, then that will be one of our biggest achievements.”
Riding for Change
This November, Joanne and the Turbo Studio team will be going all out to help break the silence when they host the inaugural ‘Ride with a Brave Heart for Bravehearts’ cycling challenge.
Kicking-off from Merimbula (NSW) on 9 November, cyclists will ride 500km and climb more than 10,000 vertical metres to reach Jindabyne in the Southern Highlands on 11 November.
“It’s going to be an absolutely epic event,” says Jo.
“The event is being run purely through volunteer support to maximise the amount we can raise and donate to Bravehearts.”
Cyclists can register to ride for one, two or all three days of the event and can access a discounted entry fee by getting a team of six together.
All entry fees cover accommodation, guided cycling routes, a cycling kit, three months of pre-event training rides and support vehicle access during the ride.
“We hope all of those cycling enthusiasts out there will take on this challenge and join us,” says Jo.
“Child protection is everybody’s business so getting a team together through work or friends would really help to raise awareness.”
