support Counselling and Support

Bravehearts provides counselling services to:

  • Children and young people who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing child sexual assault and exploitation;
  • Their non-offending adult family members including parents, partners, siblings and others;
  • Children under 12 engaging in problem sexual behaviour [NOTE: Young people aged 13-17 with harmful sexual behaviour are referred to Bravehearts’ Turning Corners program].

Bravehearts also works with young people who have or are at risk of engaging in harmful sexual behaviour through our Turning Corners ProgramThis innovative program offers a comprehensive and integrated response with a strong focus on early intervention and improved outcomes for the young person, their family and the community.

Bravehearts counselling services are provided by Psychologists, Social Workers and Counsellors who specialise in assisting children, young people and families to work through the trauma they have experienced by using evidence-based interventions and best practice.

Our Counselling Service does not investigate child sexual assault. The focus of this work is to support children and families to manage psychological symptoms that have resulted from their trauma.

Counselling services operate from our Strathpine (North Brisbane), Springwood (South Brisbane) and Arundel (Gold Coast) offices.

If you are not able to access these locations, you can access all our counselling services online via the Bravehearts e-Health platform.

Bravehearts offers free counselling services to children, young people and non-offending family members at the following locations:

  • Strathpine ;
  • Springwood; and
  • Gold Coast.

For those who are not eligible for free counselling, we can offer a fee for service or assist you to identify other service options in your area where possible.
