Clinician
The Courage Project, MackayWe are currently seeking an experienced, passionate and professional Clinician to join our Courage Project team in Mackay. This is a full time position on a fixed term basis until the end of June 2027.
About The Courage Project Team:
The Courage Project provides trauma informed mental health services for children under 14 years of age in North Qld (Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac Regions) who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing physical and/or sexual abuse/assault, family violence and self-harm. The team’s professionalism is matched by their warmth, compassion, and collaborative spirit. They consistently provide exceptional support to both their clients and one another.
About the Clinician role:
You will be responsible for providing counselling through face-to-face, telephone and/or online sessions, conducting psychological and other assessments, maintaining detailed case notes, and ensuring your practice is consistently of the highest standard. You will also need to compile concise and professional reports and attend regular supervision meetings. This role is also required to complete fortnightly overnight outreach trips to the Isaac and Whitsunday regions.
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or counselling.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in providing counselling (within the field of trauma is preferred).
- Experience providing counselling to boys up to 16-years old would be advantageous.
- A sound understanding of child protection legislation relevant to service delivery, and the effects of trauma on the individual, family, interpersonal, and societal level.
- Registration (or eligibility) and/or membership with governing body of profession (Psychologists Registration Board of Queensland, Australian Counselling Association, the Australian Association of Social Work, or Queensland Counselling Association).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, complemented by strong negotiation and mediation abilities.
- Experience and understanding of issues relating to service delivery with an agency that is committed to socially and culturally inclusive practices is preferable.
- An understanding of working within a mandatory reporting framework.
- Must have or be willing to apply for a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and National Police Certificate.
- Ability to complete fortnightly overnight outreach trips is essential.

About the Team Leader position
Reporting to the Director of Therapeutic and Support Services, the Team Leader is responsible for managing the daily operations of The Courage Project. This includes:
- Coordination of service delivery for the program, ensuring that all contract deliverables are met.
- Leadership of a small team of direct reports, including daily support, recruitment, onboarding, coaching and performance management.
- Coordinate and facilitate team meetings and allocation of clients.
- Compile regular reporting, including feedback from statistical reports, funding bodies and other relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain strong operational relationships with community stakeholders, develop community education programs and participate in stakeholder forums and cross agency training sessions.
- Support your own case load of clients by providing professional counselling to children and young people and their non-offending family members.
- Conduct assessment with clients, maintain accurate records of sessions and provide professional reports as required to external bodies.
About You:

About the Counselling Team Leader position:
In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the counselling service within the Beyond Brave team, including daily operational requirements and providing leadership and support to a small team of Clinicians/Therapeutic Case Managers.
You will also be responsible for your own caseload of clients, to whom you will provide trauma-informed and culturally appropriate counselling and emotional support, as well as support completing their applications for Redress.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver short-term trauma-informed counselling and/or crisis intervention which is linked to the lodgement of an application to the Redress Scheme.
- Conduct risk assessments and interventions as necessary.
- Assist clients with the completion of their Redress application.
- Provide daily team leadership, mentoring and support to ensure that the Counselling team are running efficiently and effectively.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of the counselling program with Beyond Brave.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings and regular 1:1s with each team member.
- Provide weekly, monthly and ad hoc data reports, and ensure all case notes are completed in a timely manner.
About You:
- Degree in social work, counselling, psychology or related discipline, with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association (APS, AASW, ACA or PACFA).
- A minimum of 3-5 years post graduate experience providing case management and counselling to survivors of complex childhood trauma and/or violence, or in mental health.
- Experience in working with adult survivors of child sexual assault, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities and members of the CALD communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of the lifelong impacts of child sexual abuse and other childhood trauma.
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing engaged, values-aligned, and resilient teams through empathetic leadership that fosters trust, connection and accountability.
- Must have or be willing to apply for a Working with Children Check (relevant to the state) and a National Police Certificate.

About the Case Manager position:
In this role you will be responsible for providing trauma-informed and culturally appropriate support to survivors of institutional child sexual abuse who are considering applying to the National Redress Scheme. You will also support clients to complete Redress applications and provide client focused emotional support in a trauma informed context.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of clients to complete and lodge applications for the Redress Scheme.
- Providing clear and accurate information about the National Redress Scheme to clients who have experienced historical institutional child sexual abuse.
- With assistance from Quality Assurance Applications Officers, prepare written responses to Section 24 (S24) requests for additional information and prepare reviews of decisions and revocations.
- Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Depending on caseload, multi-day outreach trips to Correctional Centres may be required every 8 – 10 weeks to meet with clients who are incarcerated.
About You:
- Degree in counselling, psychology, or social work or related discipline with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association (APS, AASW, ACA or PACFA); or a minimum of 5-7 years in trauma informed case management.
- A minimum of 2-years post graduate experience providing counselling to survivors of complex childhood trauma, violence, or mental health; or a minimum of 5-7 years in trauma informed case management.
- Experience in working with adult survivors of child sexual assault, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities and members of the CALD communities.
- Knowledge and understanding of frameworks of ethical practice; confidentiality; the requirements of mandatory reporting; and relevant state and national laws.
- Must have or be willing to apply for a Working with Children Check (relevant to the state) and a National Police Certificate.
- Must have a drivers licence.

Clinician
Arundel, Gold CoastWe are currently seeking an experienced, passionate and professional Clinician to join our Turning Corners team on a part time basis (3 days, Monday – Wednesday), based from our Arundel office. This is a fixed term contract until 30th June 2027.
About Turning Corners:
The Bravehearts Turning Corners program works with young people who have engaged in or at risk of engaging in harmful sexual behaviours. The team provide developmentally, culturally, and contextually appropriate services that promote safety, accountability, healing, and wellbeing for all parties impacted by harmful sexual behaviour.
About the position:
Reporting to our Turning Corners & Intake Manager, this role involves supporting community-referred children and young people across the full continuum of intervention, including those referred for a fee for service option through the Restorative Justice Program. Clinicians are responsible for delivering end-to-end intervention, including intake, assessment, therapeutic treatment, advocacy, and ongoing case management, and are accountable for driving coordinated, safe, and effective outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide trauma informed counselling, intervention and case management to young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour, young people who have been harmed by sexual abuse or harmful sexual behaviour, and non-offending parents and carers.
- Deliver end-to-end intervention, including intake, assessment, therapeutic treatment, advocacy, and coordinated case management, and take ownership for progressing each case toward safe and effective outcomes.
- Provide support and education to clients, their non-offending family members and/or their care team.
- Conduct client assessments, maintain accurate case notes, and prepare professional reports for external agencies when required.
- Collaborate with team members and external agencies to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Evaluate and monitor treatment outcomes using standardised tools.
- Identify, report, and respond to child safety and wellbeing concerns in line with mandatory reporting and organisational procedures.
- Contribute to a positive, culturally safe, and collaborative team environment that reflects Bravehearts’ mission, values, and vision.
Skills and experience required to succeed:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling or a related field.
- Registration (or eligibility) and/or membership with governing body of profession.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in counselling and case management including individual, family and group therapy.
- Experience in providing trauma counselling to young people who have been harmed through harmful sexual behaviour, and some experience in working with young people who have or are at risk of engaging in harmful sexual behaviour is preferred.
- Experience in maintaining accurate case plans, treatment plans and other client information.
- Demonstrate personal qualities such as integrity, sound judgment, empathy, and a deep respect for others.
- Experience and understanding of issues relating to service delivery with an agency that is committed to socially and culturally inclusive practices preferable.

The Quality Assurance Applications Lead is responsible for assessing, reviewing and drafting complex applications submitted under the National Redress Scheme to ensure compliance with the legislative requirements of the Scheme and associated policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
This role is also responsible overseeing for the delivery of the daily operational requirements of the Quality team, providing leadership and support to a small team of Quality Assurance Applications Officers and relevant reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assess complex applications for Redress against legislative criteria and Scheme policy requirements.
- Support Case Managers to review and analyse evidence, records, submissions and supporting documentation to determine eligibility and compliance.
- Identify risks, inconsistencies or gaps in evidence and recommend appropriate actions in consultation with the Case Managers.
- Prepare written responses to Section 24 (S24) requests for additional information and prepare reviews of decisions and revocations in consultation with Case Managers and the National Program Manager.
- Provide daily team leadership and support to ensure that the Quality team is running efficiently and effectively.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intake & Administration Officer to join our team. Based in Arundel, this is a full time position on a fixed term contract until the end of June 2027.
About the Beyond Brave team at Bravehearts:
Our Beyond Brave team is dedicated and passionate, with a clear focus on delivering support to adult survivors of institutional child sexual abuse who are wanting to make an application to the National Redress Scheme. The team look out for one another, share knowledge, and collaborate closely to ensure the best outcomes for our clients and each other.
About the Intake & Administration Officer position:
These roles serve as the primary point of contact for individuals applying to the National Redress Scheme. In this position, you will deliver trauma-informed, empathetic, phone support and be responsible for client triage and administrative coordination.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide clear and accurate information about services offered by Beyond Brave and the National Redress Scheme to prospective clients who have experienced historical institutional child sexual abuse.
- Conduct trauma-informed, empathetic, and culturally responsive needs assessments with callers.
- Appropriately escalate complex, high-risk, or urgent welfare matters.
- Ensure all clients screened for suitability meet the eligibility requirements set forth by existing contractual or departmental obligations.
- Assist applicants to navigate and access Bravehearts to assist them throughout their redress journey.
- Support applicants through the intake process, offering practical assistance, document coordination, and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential records.
About You:
- Demonstrated experience in client intake, case coordination, or administrative support within the community services, legal, or health sectors.
- A sound understanding of (or ability to rapidly acquire) the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse Act 2018.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of trauma-informed and person-centered approaches in a client-facing environment.
- High levels of empathy, emotional intelligence, and non-judgmental communication skills.
- Proficiency in using client management systems, databases, and general office applications.
- Must have or be willing to apply for a Working with Children Check (relevant to the state) and a National Police Certificate.
