Bravehearts’ child protection online courses equip those supporting and working with children with the knowledge and tools to create and maintain child-safe environments.
For those working in a school or childcare centres, Bravehearts’ training is specifically designed to complement our suite of education programs including Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show, CyberEcho and ProjectYou!. Upon completion, you will be equipped to support the children in your care and respond to concerning behaviour and disclosures.
Online Courses

Introduction to Child Protection *NEW*
$39.00 pp, incl. GST
This course will provide learners with an overview of child protection and an understanding of child abuse prevalence, impact, risks, and action required.
There are four modules to this course. On completion of the course you will have developed an understanding of the case for change, what child abuse is, and the impact of that abuse on individuals and the community. You will be able to recognise the risk of child abuse, and how to take action when a risk is identified, or a disclosure is received.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the learner will be able to:
- recognise the national prevalence of abuse against children/ young people
- recognise the different forms of child abuse and their impact on children/young people and those supporting them
- identify the indicators for abuse and how they present in children/young people and perpetrators
- recognise and respond to direct and indirect disclosures or suspicions of inappropriate behaviour and take action to support child safety.

Annual Refresher – Introduction to Child Protection *NEW*

This course will refresh learners on the key areas of child protection – understanding the indicators and impacts of child abuse and how to respond to disclosures.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, the learner will have refreshed their understanding of the information required to:
- the indicators of child abuse in the perpetrator and the abused
- the potential impact of child abuse on the individual and those supporting them
- the steps required to respond to a disclosure.

Child Protection for Child-Facing Organisations *NEW*
$59.00 pp, incl. GST
This course will provide employees and volunteers within child-facing organisations with the knowledge and skills required to act on child protection within that environment.
This course equates to 3 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the learner will be able to:
- Recognise the prevalence and traumatic impact of child abuse on children/young people and those supporting them
- Identify risk and protective factors and indicators of abuse in children/young people and perpetrators within a workplace setting
- Recognise how child abuse occurs and the behaviours and attitudes which indicate an adult is likely to abuse a child/young person
- Recognise the indicators of concerning sexual behaviour of a child/young person and the actions required when these children/young people are in your care
- Recognise and respond to direct and indirect disclosures of child abuse or suspicion of inappropriate behaviour, in accordance with regulatory and sector requirements
- Support a child/young person through a trauma response and identify ways to promote a child-safe environment.

Child Protection for Early Years Educators *NEW*

This course will provide early years educators with the knowledge and skills required to act on child protection within an early years setting.
Early years educators require the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to allegations or disclosures of child abuse or child sexual abuse. They need to be aware of not only how to recognise the indicators that abuse may be occurring, but also how to take action, respond and support a child at risk of abuse or one who is a victim of abuse.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the learner will be able to:
- recognise the prevalence and traumatic impact of child abuse on children and those supporting them
- identify risk and protective factors and the indicators of abuse in children and perpetrators within your work context
- identify the behaviours and attitudes which indicate an adult is likely to abuse a child
- recognise the indicators of harmful sexual behaviour in a child and the actions required by you
- recognise and respond to direct and indirect disclosures or suspicion of inappropriate behaviour or child abuse in accordance with regulatory and sector requirements
- demonstrate an understanding of how to safely support a child experiencing child abuse trauma and promote a child-safe environment.

Child Protection for Schools *NEW*

Educators and school staff supporting children and young people require the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to allegations or disclosures of child abuse or child sexual abuse.
They need to be aware of not only how to recognise the indicators that abuse may be occurring, but also how to take action, respond and support a child or young person at risk of abuse or one who is a victim of abuse.
This course will provide staff working in a primary or secondary school setting, including outside school hours care staff, with the knowledge and skills required to act on child protection.
